Lucid Air Wins 2023 World Luxury Car Award at New York International Auto Show

At the 2023 New York International Auto Show, the World Car Awards announced Lucid Group’s win during an awards ceremony. The awards are selected by a panel of 100 distinguished international automotive journalists from 32 countries who cast their vote through a secret ballot based on their assessment of each eligible vehicle. Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid Group, expressed his appreciation for the recognition, stating that it further solidifies his belief that the Lucid Air is the best car currently available. He praised the company’s renowned in-house powertrain technology, which enables the Lucid Air to achieve a game-changing electric range of over 500 miles, showcasing what is possible from a technology company that combines cutting-edge software and hardware. Derek Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Design and Brand at Lucid Group, also noted that the award validates their goal of creating a new luxury sedan experience with outstanding EV range and performance, striking exterior design, and an award-winning interior inspired by Lucid’s California origins.

The Lucid Air won the World Luxury Car of the Year Award, chosen from a list of sixteen vehicles from around the world, followed by a shortlist of three finalists, which was announced on March 7. Additionally, the Lucid Air was honored with the 2023 Newsweek Disruptor Award for Powertrain, acknowledging its groundbreaking EV technology, and was named to the US News & World Report “2023 Best Hybrid and Electric Cars” list for “Best Luxury Electric Car.”

Lucid Group set a new benchmark for range with two versions of the Lucid Air, which were the first EVs to achieve an EPA-estimated range above 500 miles (800km). The company achieved these new standards through its holistic approach to range and power, offering cars that provide supercar levels of performance, super-fast charging, a luxurious and spacious interior, and class-leading aerodynamics.
